Mary Magdalene Celebration
All welcome – just pitch up!
5pm on Sunday 21st July at St Barnabas, Brooking TQ9 6DW
Wild Monastery and our Wild Church warmly invite you to this special contemplative service on the Eve of the Feast of Mary Magdalene. All are welcome to join our small group in blending ancient tradition and contemporary innovation.
Join us in chanting ancient prayers, processing icons, lighting candles and wafting incense within a uniquely created liturgy (ceremony) to celebrate one of our most beloved matron saints, Mary Magdalene, as a dusk descends and her Feast Day begins.
We draw inspiration from the 1549 Prayer Book Evensong & earlier material, in combination with inclusive, gender balanced and non hierarchical language. We embrace the beautiful music of both ancient and contemporary chants and touch into scriptural texts, including the Gospel of Mary Magdalene.

Wild Church ‘Moominsummer Madness’ 10th Birthday Party
By invitation & booking essential
River Dart Wild Church celebrates its tenth birthday this year and I (Sam) am also celebrating 21 years in ordained ministry (‘twenty one again!’). So pack your handbag and join Moominmamma and a host of other wild characters for this special afternoon together.
My lovely neighbours, Cass & Phil, are bringing their social enterprise ‘Bluebell Cafe’ to offer a warm welcome with great coffee, teas and lots of lovely cake. Also my younger son, Tam, will be serving our original & signature cocktail: ‘The Ambivalent Anglican’… A gin based creation with notes of honey, lemon and blackcurrant jam, in a bright ‘cardinal red’ suggestive of our liberal Anglo-Catholic leanings! There will also be time to share stories, memories & reflections.
If you haven’t replied to your invite (or haven’t received one & think you should) let me know as we are rapidly running out of space…
