A contemplative, interfaith afternoon retreat, on Remembrance Sunday: at St Barnabas, Brooking, Dartington from 2-5pm on Sunday 10th November. Offered on a donation basis: please see below for more details and contact Sam for bookings.
As wars rage around the world and as we remember all those who lost their lives in the two world wars and later conflicts, this reflective afternoon will offer a space to come together and re-member and embody peace. We will draw on inspiration from Buddhist and Christian traditions, including the teachings of Thich Nhat Hahn from ‘Creating True Peace – Ending Conflict in Yourself, Your Community and the World’ and our meditation will be inspired by White Tara and Mother Mary. We will conclude with quiet time to remember and light candles for loved ones lost this year and for all our ancestors and beloved dead.
Offered on a donation basis (suggested amount: £15 – supported, £25 – standard & £35 – supporters). Free parking is available in front of the church and the ‘gold bus‘ (between Plymouth and Paignton) stops at the end of the drive (Ask for the ‘Tigley Cross’ stop). Please dress for outdoors & all weathers, as there will be the option of quiet time outside in the churchyard (with campfire – weather permitting) and inside church can be chilly too! Refreshments are included and each participant will receive an optional peace practice, an iconographical image of Mary and a peace poppy to take away at the end of our time together, as support for an ongoing commitment to peace. Please contact Sam for bookings.
